Febuary Women's Book Discussion
The next women's book discussion will be on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at The Mattingly's home.
We meet from 4-4:30 to socialize and from 4:30 - 6:00 pm we discuss our book. Feel free (or not) to bring "fellowship food" to share. It is not a meal.
We always welcome newcomers and any woman even if she hasn't read the book. Children are also always welcome in our home if that is a need.
For those needing a zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81535236128 If you plan to attend via Zoom, please let Debra know so she will have time to set it up beforehand.
We will be discussing:
The Sunflower: Conforming the Will of Man to the Will of God by St John Maximovitch
May our love for the Sun, the will of God, be as strong as the sunflower’s, so that even in days of hardship and sorrow we will continue to sail unerringly along the sea of life, following the directions of the barometer and compass of God’s will that leads us to the safe haven of eternity. —St John Maxmovitch
This is a thoroughly practical manual of the spiritual life that focuses on the central goal of every Christian: discerning the will of God and struggling to mold our life to it, just as Christ “humbled Himself and became obedient” (Philippians 2:8).
$25 at St. Vladimir's Press; $27 on Amazon plus used, and kindle; $10 as ebook on Apple; 352 pages
At our January 28th meeting, we decided to begin our discussion of this book in February, then continue to read and digest it during Great Lent. We will come back together in May (probably May 19th) to discuss it further.
